Johanna Boyce, MSW, FIPA
Specialty/Practice Description:

I am a licensed psychoanalyst and clinical social worker in the state of Vermont. I received my psychoanalytic training from The Vermont Psychoanalytic Study Group and am a Fellow Member of the International Psychoanalytic Association. Currently, I am treasurer of The Vermont Psychoanalytic Study Group (VPSG) and a direct member of the Confederation of Independent Psychoanalytic Societies (CIPS).

I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Middlebury College in, Vermont and my MSW from Hunter College School of Social Work in NY, NY. I came to psychoanalytic training later in life, having first pursued a career in the arts. For many years, I was a choreographer in the avant-garde based in NYC. I then moved to Vermont, continued to choreograph, became a theater director and deepened my involvement in psychoanalysis. My interest in the performing arts and psychoanalysis/psychotherapy has always been rooted in the importance of pursuing inner truths (the ‘unthought known’) and in the expression of those truths.

My private practice is in Burlington, Vermont where I provide psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I am also available to discuss psychoanalytic training opportunities in our area and general inquiries about VPSG.
